That was then....this is now!

This highchair was a shower gift we received when Maya was born. It seemed like it was going to be one of those things that we would be storing forever. Well, that really wasn't the case. We were told by our doctor that once Maya was old enough to sit up by herself, that we could use it.

Well, on February 22, 08, Daddy and I were thrilled that we could finally pull it out and put it together. Maya was definitely sitting up by now, but wasn't quite ready to be fed here. We figured at least she could hang out in the kitchen with us.

This was the first time Maya sat in her highchair. It was so awesome to see her play while we prepared and ate meals.

Here are some of our favorite pictures of Maya in her highchair.....

The first time she tried rice cereal.

First time with carrots and squash.

Eating (she really didn't eat) her 1st year birthday cake, she mostly just played with the fork.

First time feeding herself with a fork. Kiwi became one of her favorite foods to eat.

A first for pasta. Nothing makes a messier meal than pasta!

A bowl on Maya's head always meant that she was down with the meal! Sometimes she would put a bowl on her head and say, "happy birthday hat." (I hate to admit this; but sometimes she still puts a bowl on her head and starts to sing Happy Birthday To You.)

Maya's first time coloring. Covering the tray with aluminum was a great idea. I couldn't even imagine what her tray would look like now if we hadn't covered it.

Maya's first time eating with a spoon.

Just the other day, Stewart and I realized that Maya was getting too big for her highchair. It was time for a booster seat!!

Maya eating her first breakfast in her new booster seat!

I have to say that Maya has really done really well with the transition and enjoys eating at our breakfast bar or table with daddy and I. Even though the highchair has been in the kitchen she has not asked to go back into it. This weekend we are going to take the highchair apart and put it back into the box and back into storage.

Oh my, how big she's getting!! I'm sure I'll be looking back on these same things with Katie. It goes by so fast, doesn't it?

Thank you so much for frequenting my blog, and always leaving such kind comments. I truly appreciate it, and look forward to them. :)

Congrats on moving out of the highchair! I remember feeling like it would be forever before the girls would be able to sit in the highchair. I am amazed at how fast Maya is growing - and she's more beautiful every day!!
